Keeping an award: the conditions that quietly matter
Getting an award is one step. Keeping it usually asks for a few things every year.
1Enrollment level
Full time and part time can be treated differently. If you plan to take fewer classes in a term, ask how each award would be affected before you change your schedule.
2Academic progress
Schools set standards for grades and for the share of attempted courses you complete. Missing the standard can pause aid. Ask for the standard in writing and check it each term.
3Renewal paperwork
Some awards renew automatically while others ask for a new form. Put the renewal date in your tracker as soon as you know it, and take it from the official source.
4If life changes
Changes to your household, finances or plans can affect aid. The aid office can explain what to report and when.
