Why this exists

Most people first meet education aid in a hurry: a deadline, a letter, a word they have not seen before. Scholento sorts the vocabulary into piles so it makes sense before the rush.

What we cover

We explain what grants, scholarships, work-study and loans are, how to compare offers, which questions to ask a school, and how to recognize a scam. We keep the language plain and the claims modest.

What we do not do

We do not award or offer funds, take applications, tell anyone whether they qualify, or match people with schools or lenders. We do not share your details with anyone who might want to sell you something.

Where the facts come from

We write from general, widely shared guidance, such as that published by the U.S. Department of Education’s Federal Student Aid office, state higher-education agencies and consumer-protection agencies, and we point to those public resources when they are the best place to learn more. If something here differs from what a program or school tells you, they win.
